One of such is George Graham (1673-1751) who would otherwise be known as “father of the chronograph”. He, who invented the wall chronograph and the mercury pendulum, also created the Master Clock for the astronomers at the Greenwich Royal Observatory. His horological achievements gained him an admission to the Royal Society, chaired by Isaac Newton.
